Def Leppard back with new CD
Def Leppard is a band with which I have a bit of a history. From their first appearance in Maine opening for Ozzy Osbourne at the Bangor Auditorium in the early 1980s to several shows in Portland in the new millennium, I've been an avid fan of this band.

LUCKY'S CD REVIEW

Def Leppard is a band with which I have a bit of a history … from their first appearance in Maine opening for Ozzy up at the Bangor Auditorium in the early 80's through to several shows in Portland in the new millennium, I've been an avid fan(atic) of this wonderful band!

Now, they have a brand new album — "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge" (Bludgeon Riffola/Island/UMe Records) — and once more they’ve proved that they are still a viable group growing musically each and every year.

ON MUSIC

Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn is planning a performance at the First Parish Church in Portland Thursday evening — a show that will be recorded for an upcoming live album.

"I think, for people coming to the show, the fact that it’s being recorded is probably the only thing out of the ordinary," Cockburn said during a recent telephone interview.

"There may be one or two new songs in the show — I don't know yet and I won’t know until the day of whether I'm really going to do one of the couple of new songs I have or not, but it is entirely possible. I honestly can't remember the last time I was in Maine."
